The song “Music” was not necessarily universally recognised after its release; too epic, too much drama. Nevertheless, the song wrote music history. The song has strong contrasts, changes of rhythms and actually only few lyrics: “Music was my first love – and it will be my last”. The song speaks more through the music than through the lyrics.

John Miles was working as a studio musician when he recorded this album, on which he played catchy rock music combined with symphonic string sections. In 1976, the album “Rebel” , which contained this song, was released. He did not achieve the resounding sales success of this album again and therefore went back to working in the studio for other musicians..
