It is not yet possible to send a Peace Light by e-mail. Nevertheless, we symbolically present you with the peace light with this little song as a thank you and as Christmas greetings, combined with our best wishes for the New Year 2024. May the lyrics of this song come true this year.
The lyrics of the song were written by Franz Lackerbauer, a retired teacher and passionate dialect poet. He was originally commissioned by the Hausruckchor Ottnang-Maning to write the text for the choir’s performance at this year’s presentation of the Peace Light in Brussels. The choir then sang the text in a heavily modified version.
Helmut Schwaiger from the Association for Music Information and choirmaster of the workers’ choral society Kohlröserl Ebensee, in which Franz Lackerbauer, himself a native of Ebensee, is also active, then took the original text version and set it to music. The song was premiered on December 8, 2023 in the Ebensee parish church.
