From July 3 to 6, 2025, Lleida in Catalonia will host the 20th Lleida International Band Festival, in which the FEM Banda competition will also play a central role. This event brings together brass bands and street bands from all over the world to celebrate music on the streets of the city and in cultural venues. Since its inception, over 83 bands from seven different countries, including Spain, France, Italy and Colombia, have taken part.
Competition and festival
- Wind orchestras and street bands: FEM Banda is divided into two categories – wind orchestras and street bands. Both can participate until January 15, 2025 and receive financial support of up to €3,000 (wind orchestra) and €2,500 (street bands).
- Diverse performances: In addition to competition concerts, there are numerous performances in Lleida’s lively streets and public squares. The city thus becomes a meeting place for music lovers and a magnet for large audiences.
Highlights of the event
- Musical exchange: Participants have the opportunity to make international contacts and take part in cultural exchange projects.
- Support for artists: In addition to financial support, the festival offers logistics and accommodation solutions, including meals and optional city tours.
- Promotion of the artists: Participating groups receive professional video footage of their performances, which they can use for their own promotion.
Practical information
Bands can choose from three accommodation packages tailored to their needs. The organization also supports extended stays and excursions to discover the region. The exact performance programs and musician lists must be submitted in advance to be included in the official festival material.
