“Jump” THE hit of the band “van Halen” is in the ears of the fans because of its characteristic intro on the synthesizer. It is an irony of fate that it was this very intro on the keyboard instrument that made guitarist Eddie van Halen famous. The song “Jump” was written jointly by all band members, but the intro was written long before the end of the 1970s, but never made it onto any LP of the hard rock group. It was not until 1983 that it found favour in the eyes of the band members – and became a huge success.
Eddie van Halen has now died of cancer at the age of 65. According to an ORF report, Eddie van Halen said of himself: “I can’t think of anyone who was luckier in his life than I was,” Eddie van Halen once said. “I have gone through quite a lot of bullshit in my life, but I have been playing in the band with my brother since the beginning and now with my son. I don’t think anyone else in the music world can say that. I don’t know anybody who makes music with his son and his brother.
“Jump” is and remains the hard rock party hit as a legacy of Eddie van Halen.
