New reports about the Musikmesse in Frankfurt come in almost daily. Once the world’s biggest Musikmesse, it is struggling with a shrinking number of visitors and exhibitors. Various concepts were unable to stop the decline of the fair. The last proposal, which has since been withdrawn, was to merge the 2021 Musikmesse with the Frankfurt Book Fair or hold it in parallel. However, this did not meet with any approval from the exhibitors and in the MI industry, the separation from Prolight + Sound is criticised above all. Furthermore, the new date lies in a period of intense event activity for the sector in general. In addition, rising costs for visitors and exhibitors must be expected, since hotel prices at the time of the Book Fair are once again higher than they were at the traditional date. This was reported by the magazine “Das Musikinstrument”.
The music magazine Brawoo has now announced that Musikmesse Frankfurt will be held as an independent event at the Frankfurt exhibition grounds from 22 to 24 October 2021.
